Kumho Polychem was established as a joint-venture between Korea Synthetic Rubber Industry Co., Ltd. and Japan Synthetic Rubber Co., Ltd. because of the government’s policy to develop the heavy chemical industries and localize materials. In 1988, the company introduced the advanced technologies of Exxon Chemical from America and has grown and developed to become an internationally competent joint venture.

Kumho Polychem is the Korea’s largest EPDM maker located in the Yeosu National Petrochemical Industry Complex. Starting with the newly built plant of 10,000-ton capacity in 1987 as well as through the 3rd expansion in which an ultralow temperature polymerization technology developed by the company was applied and with the construction and the operation of the 2nd plant in 2013, the company has grown to become the Asia’s largest and world’s 3rd largest EPDM maker with a 220,000-ton capacity per year. In addition, aiming to become the “world’s best EPDM maker,” the company will provide EPDM with the best prices through continuous expansion based on cost competitiveness, accumulated sales capabilities, and the upper hand in accessing the new markets in Asia.
